Weddings 2022: styles and trends
A real boom in weddings is expected in Italy in 2022, following last year’s restrictions that led many couples to postpone their wedding dates and opt for weekdays.
According to a survey carried out by the website matrimonio.com, more than 50% of Italian couples plan to hold their wedding reception outdoors. The choices of the bride and groom range from a minimalist style, with intimate receptions that wink at eco-sustainability, to a glamorous style, which after many months of “confinement” seeks the beauty, fun and glitz of large parties, to be set in natural settings that evoke a sense of new-found freedom.
Soft colours and green atmosphere
Pastel colours such as light blue, light green, soft yellow, lilac and peach pink dominate the palette for the new season, to be combined with neutral tones and contrasting shades such as orange and rust.
Weddings in 2022 are all about sustainability: they favour natural elements, decorations made with recyclable materials, fair trade favours and farm-to-table menus, which reward local businesses and local products. The flair of the flower designers is inspired by seasonal blooms to create creations with abundant foliage that enhance the green choice and respect for nature. Among the eco-sustainable arrangements are glass compositions, potted plants, sophisticated harmonies made with flowers and dried fruits.
The multi-sensory wedding
As well as focusing on aesthetics, sound and taste, this type of event creates complete sensory journeys, stimulating guests through tactile elements and intoxicating essences.
The olfactory journey already starts with the sending of the invitation, which can be made with scented paper and ink. Fragrant flowers, scented candles and fabrics impregnated with essential oils accompany guests throughout the event, creating sophisticated themed corners and pleasant relaxation areas.
Glamorous Bridgerton weddings
Wedding trends for 2022 include weddings inspired by the popular Netflix show Bridgerton, one of 2021’s most acclaimed series. Historic homes surrounded by English gardens, reminiscent of the noble country houses and balls of the Regency era, are perfect for this type of setting.
The settings are composed of refined elements, such as velvet seats, porcelain and gold details, which give a touch of royalty and add elegance to the bucolic setting. The bride’s outfit is enriched with embroidery, tulle and lace inlays. Empire-style dresses with square necklines and balloon sleeves are adorned with precious stones and antique jewellery.
